In Europe, Semi Contact draws hundreds of fighters to ALL Their big Tournaments. However, here in the USA, the Semi Contact Kickboxing and Muay Thai style of fighting has been slower to catch on. That being said, don't think it hasn't because due to hard work and persistence and an excited tribe of followers that include many gyms, trainers, fighters and of course event Officials, IKF Point Kickboxing and Muay Thai ( IKF/PKB ) has been experiencing tremendous growth.

There have been several groups who have tried to duplicate the rule style of IKF/PKB but none have come close to what Johnny Davis created back in the 90's. As a division of the International Kickboxing / Muay Thai Federation, the IKF/PKB is without a doubt, the fastest growing Semi Contact fighting sport in the nation! With over 50 events already scheduled for 2018, IKF/PKB has proved to be an exciting introduction level to a sport that is experiencing rapid growth thanks to the work of the IKF/PKB staff that include IKF/PKB President Johnny Davis and his diligent staff that include Daniel Hodges, Ryan Hodges, and many others.

While other sanctioning bodies have bailed out of the stand up sport business to seek the $$ in MMA, the IKF has stepped up their game. In 2014 the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) delegated the IKF as the official regulators of all Amateur Kickboxing and Muay Thai in the state of California. Since their delegation, the IKF has sanctioned and regulated 182 events in California alone, and that number does not include the many IKF/PKB events that have covered the state.

Expanding the IKF/PKB even more is the announcement that the IKF/PKB will also host the IKF/PKB World Cup Tournament at the 2018 IKF World Classic. Maybe some of those European Semi Contact Teams that claim to be so good will make the trip to Orlando Florida this next summer to challenge the North American base of Semi Contact Fighters at the IKF World Classic.

Although MMA may still be strong here in the USA, one thing is for sure... The IKF never cashed in for those MMA $$. This, despite creating the very first MMA Sanctioning body, the ISCF, International Sport Combat Federation, which is still one of the largest MMA Sanctioning bodies in the world. While the ISCF team kept moving along and is making new changes here in the USA with the help of ISCF VP Steven A Crawford Sr., the ISCF is positioned for even more growth. The IKF continues to be persistent, which includes their work around the globe by other IKF leaders such as Carl Sams, Pete Foley, Felix Perez, Colin Payne and many, Many others around the globe.

This past year the IKF alone sanctioned over 2,000 Kickboxing and Muay Thai events worldwide and it's sister organizations such as the ISCF MMA - www.ISCFMMA.com and the IAB, International Association of Boxing (Pros) and International Amateur Boxing (Amateurs) - www.IABBoxing.com added to those numbers even more. All of which are under the worldwide banner of International Fight Sports, a global fight sport company ( www.ifightsports.com )

In all, to those in the IKF as well as everyone else under the International Fight Sports banner, work has turned in to fun, and all that fun can be summed up in IKF/PKB's Free Flow Academy video who hosted it's first IKF/PKB Semi Contact Tournament a little while back which was a huge success with over 100 semi contact fighters registered, and an amazing spectator turnout. How bout we just let the video clip speak for everyone here... We're all having a Great Time!

The IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing World Cup will Return in 2018 at the 2018, 20th Anniversary of the IKF World Classic on August 3-5th, 2018 in Orlando, Florida! The event will be held at the beautiful Hyatt Regency in Orlando, just minutes away from some great vacation destinations such as Disney World, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Universal Orlando.

"We want to give all those Semi Contact fighters around the world enough notice so they can bring their entire fight teams to this event."
said IKF/PKB President Johnny Davis.

It's a great opportunity for both the Semi Contact fighters as well as the Full Contact Fighters to Go For The Gold as entire teams. As always, IKF/PKB is an exciting semi contact world class sparring event! Every year at the IKF World Classic the IKF Point Kickboxing Tournament is featured on Saturday night and has always been a super exciting part of the IKF World Classic. However, this time…the stakes are higher and the awards are more grand!

At this years IKF World Classic the IKF/PKB World Cup Tournament will start a little earlier on Saturday, August 4th, 2018 than in the past (6:PM). This year we will start it at approximately 3:PM for rules etc. as we are expecting a larger turnout...so, you will need to plan accordingly as the Full Contact Portion more than likely will not be completed.

An outstanding Team, outstanding fans and outstanding fighters this past weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA for Mr. Dan Jakrapop Ruangrit King's IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Sparring Tournament … made for an Outstanding event as well!

It takes a great team to build a solid business and its clear that Mr. King and his wife Ying have done a great job building solid team and it shows in the success of their Martial business that teaches Muay Thai! We had the opportunity to work with their seasoned team this past weekend and they showed that they are professional, kind and highly respectful! All of the aforementioned attributes made for a smooth running IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Sparring Tournament and everyone in attendance seemed to have had a great time!

Fighters traveled from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Washington and did their thing in providing great entertainment for the packed house of fight fans! From the Medical Staff, Officials and other volunteers, everyone did a superb job!

Saturday, Sept. 9th, marked another successful IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Sparring event hosted by Mr. Byran Keith and Former multiple time World Champion Mr. Manu Ntoh! To put it simply…it was a marvelous display by all involved especially the Trainers, Fighters and Fans that filled the Madhouse Gym in Smyrna GA!

The event was also a small fundraiser for Mr. Nathan Waddle who was injured in Kickboxing event but had participated in an IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing event in the past. Those in attendance along with the promoters of the event raised another $230 to go along with other donations they have made to Mr. Waddle's GoFundMe account.

The next event which will include a Full Contact Fight Night hosted by IKF Promoter Mr. Bryan Keith ( Blackeye Athletics) on November 17th followed by another IKF/PKB Sparring event on the next day ( Saturday, November 18th) will be another fundraiser for Mr. Waddle to assist him with some of his medical expenses…every penny counts!

Special Thanks to the Bunker Muay Thai Team out of Atlanta, Georgia for getting the Most Participants Award! They had a very enthusiastic group and some talented fighters… Congratulations!

Kru Pol of Nine Limbs Strikers of New Bern, North Carolina pulled out all the stops for her IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Sparring Tournament this past Saturday!

We knew in advance that the tournament would be a success based on all of the pre-registered fighters but it did not stop there! Men, Women and Juniors from 5 years old to over 40 lined up at the door that morning to add their names to the pile of those that would compete that day for nice awards and the opportunity to test their skills!

Kru Pol, not only has a very nice facility but a wonderful staff that assisted with the event and helped make it a tremendous success! The event would get started on time with a detailed safety rules' meeting and a Wai Kru Dance performed by Kru Pol and one of her top students that set the tone for a wonderful event to follow! Kru Pol is also proving that she really knows the sport of Muay Thai well as her fighters are showing enormous improvements in their skills as evident in the awards they took home this past weekend! In other words, she is making it clear, when you come to New Bern, NC, you better bring your "A" Game!

We also would like to thank the house full of exciting fans that cheered on all the fighters and had a great time watching all of the action! Our IKF/ PKB Officials did an awesome job calling the matches and we are thankful for their professionalism and time! Multiple World Professional Champion Mr. Dennis Lane and Chief IKF Official Mr. Scott McMillan along with assistance from some of the trainers Mr. J.T. Smith of Lake Norman Muay Thai in Mooresville, NC and Mrs. T.K. King of United Muay Thai of Raleigh, NC …all did a great job!

I would be remiss not to mention that it was great meeting WKA President and trainer Mr. Brian Crenshaw of Richmond Virginia who not only brought a couple of talented fighters but also spent much of the day assisting with judging and I even saw him picking up chairs and trash at the end of the event! Now that was classy, Thank you Sir!

It just goes to show…if we let our passion for the sport shine and be at the forefront that we can indeed work together in taking our sport to its deserving magnitude! We have to get some of the backbiting and disrespect out of the sport in order for us to begin to rise! We must stop talking down on a promoter who is committed to giving their all to this sport we all love.

Everyone… take a step back and ask yourself if you are serving the sport well or only your selfish desires! We recognize that some of us do this as a business but I truly believe with enough respect and communication that we can have our regions, dates and events and those of us that do a good job in treating fighters and trainers well, can survive in this game and do so…without trying to squash everyone else!

Thanks again everyone for a nice event! We're pretty sure that Kru Pol will be adding several more IKF/ PKB events to the calendar soon for Coastal Carolina! Forward March!

Mr. Keith Morreira officiated an historical debut of action in Orlando's new largest outdoor art district, the WestArt District, promoted by Mr. Ruben Saldana with the majority of profits used to help with his troubled youth program, Ru Camp. Men, girls and boys competed in semi-contact Muay Thai action filmed by Majestic Digital Media.

Thunder Fight Night MMA, Majestic Fightwear, Legendz Combat League, Golden M.I.C Records and Arianis Vargas helped sponsor the event. Vitamin Shoppe passed out free samples and Former World Kickboxing Champion Mr. Mike Bell made a special guest appearance. Experienced Volunteer Judges were Mr. Rashaun " Action" Jackson, Mr. Angel Ortiz, Mr. Vernon Taylor, and Mr. David Sosa.

The IKF Point Kickboxing / Muay Thai Tournament that was held in conjunction with the IKF Spring Classic was a small but really exciting event! Spectators crammed into the small room adjacent the Conference room after the main tournament completed around 6:PM on this past Saturday. Only few knew how exciting the competition would be but later they would all learn what several of us already know…IKF Point Kickboxing / Muay Thai Sparring Tournaments are not only the incubator for the future of our sport but really one of the most exciting semi contact events on the circuit! The great thing too that we had several fighters that participated in last year's IKF PKB and won the IKF Spring Classic Championship in Full Contact division this year like rising female teen Gia Marie Henkel of Atlanta, Georgia. Most that participated in this event were first timers for the PKB but by all accounts they and their team, thoroughly enjoyed the action and are pledging to continue to be involved.

I must say this…and this is all due respect to everyone in the tournament. I have been impressed many times by a lot of kid fighters over my 40 plus years in the martial arts. However, Xeric Karoutsos of Orlando, Florida ( At Right with trophy) …12 years old made me take notice. This is why…first…he fought in the Full Contact Tournament and lost a close decision. He then asked me for the belt to put around his opponents waist! What! Later, he fought again in the PKB and took on a very skilled opponent…who in honesty, impressed everyone in the room and they did not want to fight him…Xeric did and won while again showing the utmost respect to his opponent. I see you Xeric!… Others do too and will be calling your name in the near future!

Just watch, I know a future champion when I meet them! Keep training and say humble… Forward March! J

IKF "SEMI CONTACT" Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Sparring Tournament

IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Results From February 25th, 2017.
Mr. Don Rodger of Triangle Kickboxing Promotions put on his Lightning Strikes Kickboxing Show this past Saturday night and the results were outstanding! This being his third edition, it was an almost sellout crowd at the Durham Armory located in Durham, North Carolina, USA. The packed house of fans were not disappointed as the fighters showed a lot of heart and determination… and brought the enthusiastic crowd to their feet on several occasions! If you love standup fighting, then you will love what Mr. Don Rodger is bringing back to North Carolina!

Not only is he being a trailblazer in promoting the sport but working directly with the North Carolina Athletic Commission to improve clarity in the rules that are currently outdated for kickboxing although it's been on the rise in surrounding states in recent years! The first part of the day started with an IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing tournament that saw many new young fighters show up and get their feet wet in this semi contact competition and by all accounts, they really enjoyed themselves while competing in this safe and controlled environment. Mr. Rodger as well as the IKF PKB are hopeful that these newcomers will indeed …come again, again as they will continue to grow and improve their skills.

Special thanks to all of the clubs that brought fighters to participate but in particular the club from Roanoke Rapids, NC. They brought several youngsters to this event and showed great sportsmanship and courage which is obviously coming from their head trainer who has the same demeanor. IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Sparring Tournament
January 28th, 2017 - Smyrna, Georgia, USA




Manu Ntoh and Bryan Keith proved this weekend that Georgia is truly a great place for Kickboxing! Although MMA has dominated the fight scene for the past 20 or more years…the resurgence of Kickboxing in Georgia made a strong entrance this past weekend as the Madhouse Gym in Smyrna hosted its first of several IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Events for that area.

In fact, they were so impressed with the event that they put three more on the books…The next one being Saturday, April 8th! Mark your calendars for this event that brings together surrounding gyms for a great day of exciting semi contact Kickboxing sparring for Men, Women and Children!

Let me say this off the bat…
Too be honest, I'm not sure if I've ever seen a nicer gym than Mr. Manu's! To put it simply…It's like the Bellagio of Gyms and that is not an exaggeration! You will have to go by and see it for yourself! The entrance is merchandised like a luxury boutique store of fight pictures aligned in perfect symmetry, merchandise well organized in glass display cases, well stocked concessions of food and drinks! The bathrooms are not only clean but also have nicely placed – rolled hand towels on the counters! Showers, washer and dryer, big screen TV's throughout the club, endless bags lined up on the four walls of this dual facility that's fit for the elite as well as the novice fighter who is serious about their training! You can get it all at Team Manu's Madhouse Gym!

For the first event, you only have to give very high marks to everyone who participated. The trainers who brought their fighters to compete had great attitudes in victory or defeat! The fighters were eager to fight and learned this new format of fighting and developing their skills and I think most would say that they enjoyed the event…while others learned that while they may have enjoyed it, they now have a new direction for their training! Although, there were a couple of disqualifications for contact, the fighters were very responsive to instructions and were respectful throughout.

The fans were also enthusiastic and vocal…encouraging every fighter on the mat give 100%! The staff also did an excellent job as well and it was not long before they had the program 'down-pat' and running like a well oiled machine!

Future IKF events will be coming to the Georgia! Fans of the sport of Kickboxing can rest assure their sport will be presented well and flourish into a new form of sports entertainment that will no longer be marginalized! Kickboxing is a great sport and whether it's IKF or other inspired events, Georgia will begin to recognize and honor the value of its athletes and begin to give them the respect deserving by having them represent themselves in proper form! Enough said…Forward March!

We are always very proud of all of our IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing promoters as they continue to grow their events across the United States!

One such event is the Judgment 3 / IKF Point Muay Thai Sparring event that's hosted by Mr. Rolando Montano. Mr. Montano has become one of our aggressive and prominent IKF PKB Promoters in Southern, California located in Carlsbad. He along with Mr. Robert Aldama are keeping fighters very busy in that area and hosting events monthly!

Fighters are getting some serious sparring experience and it will be these fighters and others who participants in the IKF PKB that will be our future champions in the sport! Both Montano and Aldama have done an excellent job in keeping fighter's safe and continues to be creative in expanding their tournaments under this semi contact format.

Mr. Montano is stepping up the game on March 25th, hosting a double header IKF PKB Point Semi Contact Muay Thai tournament…one for adults and the other exclusively for Kids under the age of 18…all on the same day!

Mr. Chris Clodfelter of his Eight Point Muay Thai Club in Winston Salem, North Carolina, USA saw success again this past weekend with his second IKF Point Kickboxing event that was held at his gym in Winston Salem, North Carolina, USA. Men, Women and Juniors traveled from as far at Tennessee, South and North Carolina as well as Virginia to get in some good sparring under the IKF Unified Rules! By all accounts…everyone had a good time and are looking forward to the next event in that area!

We would be remiss not to mention our excellent officials who are getting more involved in the IKF PKB events to continue to groom their knowledge about the different levels of Kickboxing.

Special thanks to Mr. Don Rodger, Shaun Wood, Ron Hilton and Mr. Wayne Spinola. These officials came out, judged and refereed the event for these up and coming fighters and did so with great enthusiasm! Afterwards some of us engaged in some good food and conversation at a nearby restaurant.
