IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing©
In World Games!
Sacramento, California, USA

IKF/PKB divisions will be in the Super Grands World Games Tuesday, December, 28th, 2010
In Sacramento, California

Come one...Come All!

By Johnny Davis- President of IKF Point Kickboxing
It's ok to dream! Just work hard and they may even come true! I remember as a youth practicing the martial arts and participating in Karate tournaments almost every weekend across the country. After years of hard work and dedication, I would be noted as one of the top rated karate tournament sparring competitors on the East Coast. Years later, I would win one of the most coveted Grand Championships in the world…The Battle of Atlanta. This tournament was held in Atlanta , GA and hosted approx. 1500 competitors. I competed in the Black Belt division which had over 300 very experienced competitors and some of the best point karate fighters in the world! In order to compete and win this division, you had to rock and roll… fighting as many as 8 to 10 times to win the grand prize that consisted of a huge trophy and cash! I remember after winning this tournament and a string of other grand championships, my friend telling me that " what you really need to do is go to the Super Grands…winning that event says even more than the winning The Battle" I was a little taken aback by the comment but later realize the Super Grands was indeed a bigger prize to win. As time past, I never got the opportunity to attend the SG. Instead, I pursued a full contact Kickboxing career and as some of you know, I would eventually win many titles including two world championships respectfully. But this year, and some times as fate would have it and approx. 25 years of hard work, I received perhaps a bigger honor to be apart of the Super Grand World Games 2010.

It's been approx. nine years since I produced my version of semi contact Kickboxing called IKF Point Kickboxing©. We now have thriving circuits in California , Florida , Iran and North Carolina and forming circuits in areas like, New York and Kenya to name a few. This division was new to many here in the US but has been going on for years in areas like the United Kingdom etc. What we did was coin and copyrighted a term that really fit what we were doing and why perhaps it comes off ones lips as second nature. Point….came from all the years of point karate fights I did but also means the fights are judged only on a 10 point must system, continuous fighting and NO KNOCKOUTS ALLOWED. Kickboxing…meaning - it incorporates the main three styles of kickboxing- Hi, low kick and Muay Thai Kickboxing. We have been committed to keeping our fighters safe while having the most fun in a fair environment and this treatment of all competitors and spectators will continue as we march forward.

IKF Point Kickboxing since its inception has produced quality, better skilled kickboxers and indeed serves as one of the leading incubators to rebuild the sport of kickboxing. Young fighters like, Katrina " The Storm" Nahe, who started IKF/PKB fights as early as six years old and has since won two junior IKF World Classic title and a regional title in Full Contact fighting. So many others like, Daniel Hodges, Jon Pryor, Sean Cronin, Gary Grant just to name a few in the State of California started in IKF Point Kickboxing and now pursuing full contact fights with better honed skills and confidence than those who did not start in the IKF/PKB incubator process.

This year, on Tues. December 28th, 2010, IKF Point Kickboxing divisions will be a part of the largest martial arts tournament in the US if not the world. Yes, through a lot of hard work and rejections, IKF Point Kickboxing is finally getting its shot on the main stage of martial arts by being a part of the Super Grand World Games 2010 held this and next year in Sacramento, CA from Dec. 26th to Jan. 31st, 2010. Yes, its ironic that it will be held at the very same place I already do my IKF Muay Thai Kickboxing Full Contact shows. I guess you can just call it hard work and fate! :) There are so many that can take some credit for success of the IKF/PKB over the years. Although, I'm careful about name dropping, I feel I would be remiss if I did not thank a couple people that I know were directly involved in this grand step forward. First, IFS / IKF CEO Steve Fossum, who believed in the concept and agreed to join in with me to give it the worldwide appeal by sanctioning all events.

There is also Mr. Dennis Guila, of Antioch, CA who brought his club to our very first event back in 2002 at the Evergreen Community College in San Jose, CA and supported the tournaments for many years.

Mr. Sean Griffin of Indian Trail, NC deserves thanks for being the first IKFPKB Representative and promoters outside of the State of California where the IKFPKB was originated. To this day, he has continued to promote events in that area with constant growth.

Thanks also goes to Rubi Navarro and Carlos Navarro of San Francisco, CA for their contributions to its growth. A special thanks to Mr. Ray Delgado, who was the first major karate tournament promoter to step to the plate and allow us to come into his event. Mr. Delgaldo's karate tournament host several hundred martial artist and being in his event began to show others the vital role IKFPKB could play in their events. As of late though, Mr. Jordan Pallen President and Mr. Tim Calvin Vice President of the AMAPA Group based in Northern, CA have really been very active pushing the concept and name of IKFPKB to their group and others like CEO of the NBL and SKIL organizations and promoter of The Super Grand World Games Mr. Boice Liddell.

A special thanks to all new leagues that are signing on like the California Black Belt League ( CBBL) owned by the Merefuentas Brothers in the Modesto, CA area and new comers Premier Martial Arts, who have schools in many states across the country, every State Representative, trainer, fighter, spectator or judge that has come out and assisted with an IKF Point Kickboxing event...THANK YOU! Additionally, the work of Jerry Mendez and Daniel Pineda in Florida can not go un-noticed as they have had several events in that area. Jerry Mendez is currently working on starting an IKFPKB league in New York City.

After the IKFPKB inception, I began to have dreams and envisioned the day that it would be accepted on the world stage of martial arts and be a part of tournaments across the United States. Being a part of The Super Grand World Games this year, is truly an honor and an indicator that the sky is the limit for years to come as IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing is introduced to more states, and countries! See the 2011 IKFPKB Calendar as it is currently forming at www.IKFPKB.com ...Hope to see you Tues. Dec. 28th, 2010 in the Capitol Room of the Doubletree Hotel in Sacramento! Forward March!

IKF PKB PROMOTERS...
SEND IN YOUR
2011 IKF/PKB TOURNAMENT REQUESTS ASAP!

From IKF/ PKB President Johnny Davis

Dear IKF/PKB Promoters and Potential Promoters,
We've had another exciting year of IKF Point Kickboxing©! With over 23 events this past year, I'm proud to say that the IKF/PKB continued to grow in 2010! So many fighters have gotten their start in the IKF/PKB in its nine years in existence and the results of it being the incubator for the sport is becoming more obvious each year. I could give so many examples of those that grew up on the IKF Point Kickboxing Circuit that are today IKF World Classic Champions and top amateur and professional fighters. Therefore, I hope that you will take the opportunity to join one of the fastest growing circuits in the martial arts for 2011...IKF Point Kickboxing©

Moreover, I'm elated that IKF Point Kickboxing is apart the largest martial arts tournament in the United States...if not the world this year. The World Games Super Grand Martial Arts Tournament host over 2000 martial arts competitors from around the world and this December 28th, 2010, the IKF Point Kickboxing divisions will be one of the exciting martial arts divisions included in the tournament that will be held in Sacramento California at the Doubletree Hotel.

IKF Point Kickboxing Divisions is a great addition to existing martial arts events and, or it can stand alone. Either way, IKF Point Kickboxing division will bring your event a lot of additional excitement!

The IKF/PKB is about safety and fairness for all competitors. Knockouts Are Not Allowed and matches are all semi- contact as well as full safety gear is required. Men, Women and Children compete in styles of Muay Thai, International and American High Kick Rule Styles and our safety record speaks for its self. The IKF/PKB is mostly profitable for our promoters as we try and keep our sanctioning cost down so that promoters and their clubs benefit. We also have a working relationship and understanding with most commissions as we stick to our semi contact rules etc. and they allow our circuit to exist. IKF/PKB events are sanctioned by the largest kickboxing organization in the world...the International Kickboxing Federation. See more at www.IKFKickboxing.com

We are also excited to continue to expand our IAB Point Boxing© Division in the coming year. IAB/Point Boxing is semi contact Boxing and no knockout outs are allowed as well as it is done on the floor and not in a ring. Participants increase their accuracy, speed and improve their overall boxing techniques. Since boxing is a primary tool in the sport of kickboxing, adding IAB/Point Boxing© divisions to your events, can only be an asset to future competitors. IAB/Point Boxing© divisions also gives your competitors another option to compete in while adding to the bottom-line of your event.

Additionally, we work with you from start to finish to see that your event is successful. So, no matter what part of the country or the world you live in, if you are interested in becoming a promoter for this exciting semi contact sport and create a circuit in your area, please do not hesitate to contact us. Note: There are some blackout days, so we will let you know if your date is approved as we try and keep dates and events as separated as possible in the same area. Please see the following links for more information and the Circuit. Go to www.IKFPKB.com - More info. California Black Belt League...
Forges On...

The Merfuentas brothers have again laid down the foundation for their growing IKF Point Kickboxing divisions in their new Black Belt League that was held this past weekend in Salida, CA. Andy K's Muay Thai Lao located in Sacramento, CA brought his team out to support the BBL and it was much appreciated.

As a traditional Muay Thai Trainer, Andy K likes the concept of IKF/PKB and often brings his competitors to test their skills. With other gyms in attendance, fighters provided the fans with some excellent bouts demonstrating how fun and exciting IKF Point Muay Thai Kickboxing is and that it will continue to grow in this new league. With more promises of more fighters for future events, the BBL will become a hot league to test your skills in one of the fastest growing semi contact divisions in the country!

2010 IKF World Classic
POINT KICKBOXING RESULTS

2010 IKF Point Muay Thai World Kickboxing Championship...
Successful and Growing Annually!

Orlando, Florida, USA

This past weekend in Orlando, Florida, the IKF World Classic Kickboxing Championship was the biggest ever in its 12 year history. Fighters literally came from around the world to compete in the Full Contact and the Semi Contact tournament. There were lots of thrills of victory and yes, especially this year, some agony of defeat (more in later articles). However, I think most there would agree that this was the best year ever with stiff competition and a ton of fight fans to cheer the fighters on. Again this year, the semi contact division of IKF Point Muay Thai Kickboxing was a major hit! The IKF PKB as it is called, was scheduled to start on Saturday night at 6:PM. However, due to some delays, the event didn't start until after 7:PM. All those waiting for the event were not disappointed as the action was HOT! Next year, we are working on measures to assure the start of the tournament will be as advertised as we continue to improve the event.

Kicking off the tournament was returning 2009 IKF Point Muay Thai World Classic Kickboxing champion, 8 year old Raphael Marascio of New Jersey who had another classic battle with newcomer Keelie Cargill of Oklahoma. Marascio as always was very aggressive coming in with a barrage of punches and kicks. However, Cargill held her own and fought strong though out the bout although Marascio won the bout unanimously by the judges. Fight fans witnessing this great match screamed and yelled to the top of their voices with delight!

IKF Point Kickboxing is continuing its march across the country and beyond and more people became familiar with its total potential to transform the great sport of kickboxing through its incubator process. Don't miss exciting IKF Point Muay Thai Kickboxing tournaments in your area and get on your way to taking the next step out of the gym.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this past year's IKF Point Muay Thai World Classic 2010. It was truly a great event with a growing interest. We hope that you will consider joining us for this exciting semi contact event held annually at the IKF World Classic.

For more information on IKF Point Kickboxing go to www.IKFPKB.com - Continue to review our calendar and hope to see you at the next event!

IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing…
Ready for the 2010 IKF World Classic

Orlando, Florida, USA

Summer has arrived and so has the time to get registered for the 12th IKF World Kickboxing Classic (July 23rd, 24th and 25th) in Orlando, Florida, USA. This event is one of the most prestigious events for amateur kickboxing in the world! Those who are in the know- know that this event is one that should not be missed especially by those serious about their future as well as adding the words of IKF World Classic Champion to their resume.

The ever-growing IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Division has been growing in leaps and bounds in the past two years at the World Classic. This year, several gyms are promising to bring out as many fighters as possible that will only make the tournament even better! Already, we are seeing more pre-registrations from semi-contact fighters around the world. As usual, we expect an even bigger group to enter for later registration this year, which is as late as Saturday, July 24th at 12:Noon. The competition will start at 6:PM to be the evening entertainment for the World Classic.

Additionally, with our IKF/ PKB Florida Representative Mr. Jerry Mendez and Mr. Dan Paneda hosting exciting IKF/ PKB Events in Florida in the past year, we are hoping to see a lot more Floridians on board and ready to compete. Both gentlemen will be on hand to assist with officiating.

Men, Women and Children as young as 5 years and as old as "dirt" can compete (lol - :) ), as long as there is someone in their division to fight. The action will be hot but of course as always, the semi contact rule is in full affect as there are NO KNOCKOUTS ALLOWED. There will be divisions in IKF/Point Muay Thai, International Hi Kick and International Low Kick styles. However, sometimes we have to mix and match to assure everyone coming gets a fair fight.

Everyone planning to bring their fighters really needs to know the difference in this competition and what will be going on in the main arena. The semi contact rules must be paramount. However, in saying this, we encourage you to use your speed instead of power and focus on the points and you will have a great time at this event! Moreover, BE IN SHAPE, the 2, 2 minute rounds with 1 round of OT is in affect for this event. We will modify it for the Junior Fighters, but be in shape and ready to rock as these rounds seem a lot longer than it sounds on paper.

Just as last year's event, the World Classic will be held at the largest Marriott in the world in Orlando, Florida. This beautiful location is one that stands out and the luxury rooms and exciting scenery with Disney World just a stone throw away, makes it a great location for such an event. Heck, planning your family's vacation around the tourney at this wonderful location is not a bad idea!

In addition to semi contact, The IKF World Classic will again have the best divisions of Full contact bouts with divisions in Muay Thai, International Hi Kick and International Low Kick styles. Over 200 fighters will travel afar to prove one thing…That they are the best!

Results From California Black Belt League's
IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing
May 22nd, 2010 - Turlock, California, USA

The California Black Belt League (C.B.B.L)
Completes First IKF / PKB Event!

Future is bright for New Martial Arts Circuit. Pus, JD's Point Boxing© division kicks off its first bout!

The Merefuentas brothers were all smiles with the success of their most recent California Black Belt League's martial arts event that included an assortment of martial arts like kumite sparring, weapons, katas, grappling and the fastest growing semi contact striking tournament competition IKF Point Kickboxing©.

The Merefuentas brothers are clearly admired by many martial artist in the area and looks as they will be very successful in an area where there doesn't seem to be a lot of martial arts tournament competition. Therefore, although the participation for the first IKF/PKB was light this time around, the future is bright for this exciting fighting division as well for those who participate in C.B.B.L events. IKF/PKB semi contact competition was a perfect fit for the CBBL as it is with other karate circuits in the area and the fans seemed to really enjoy the action! The C.B.B.L will have IKF/PKB in all of their upcoming events for all of 2010 and hopefully for years to come.

Fighters Jesus Barrios of Foresthill, CA and trained by Mr. Tom Shively and Daniel Oseguera of Modesto, CA who is trained by Paul Mendoza and Matt Miller get the credit as being the first official Point Boxing© match. Also, Josh Shively and Matt Miller gave an excellent Point Boxing demonstration. Shively Jr. showed skill but Miller was very impressive as he worked angles, showed fast hands and good footwork. Miller, who has been participating in IKF Point Kickboxing for over a year or so now is getting ready for his full contact match in Sacramento on July 2nd which will be held at the Doubletree Hotel.

Point Boxing© is semi contact boxing where no knockouts are allowed and competitors focus on bettering their "hand" skills to improve overall as a fighter. Both men showed excellent techniques and landed very good head and body shots. Osequera would prove to have a little more skill as he won with a unanimous decision by the judges. Point Boxing© will more than likely be sanctioned by the newly IAB Boxing Organization - www.iabboxing.com recently formed by International Fight Sports - IFS - www.ifightsports.com CEO Steve Fossum. The Boxing organization will sanction both amateur and professional boxing matches

The next C.B.B.L event is scheduled for June 19th, 2010 on Ripon, CA.

Kru Yong of Sacramento, California
Scores Excellent On His IKF/PKB Tournament
This Past Weekend!

Kru Yong Saiyarath of Sacramento a master instructor of the Art of Muay Thai Kickboxing and trainer of many talented fighters in the area held yet another successful IKF Point Kickboxing© Tournament this past weekend in Sacramento, CA at the Inderkum High School.

On a Saturday afternoon, one that many were thinking about the super bout between Boxing Champions Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosely, over 60 fighters including men, women and children came to compete in this semi-contact event and still got home in time to enjoy the showcase of talent by both fighters but in particular...the"Money Man."

The IKF/PKB action was as always, hot and heavy but everyone seemed to really enjoy the action as well as the experience of developing their skills in the great sport of Muay Thai/Kickboxing. As always, Kru Yong was an excellent host allowing the event to flow while making sure he kept all factors of the event running smoothly. His next IKF/PKB event is scheduled for September 11, 2010.

Special thanks to Mr. Yong for being an advocate for IKF Point Kickboxing©...the fastest growing semi-contact division on the martial arts circuit. Special thanks also to IKF/PKB officials, David Rosales, Rich Davis, Sean Cronin and Bobby Rosales who did an excellent job judging and keeping the fight moving quickly and fairly

IKF/PKB President Johnny Davis spoke to all in attendance and reminded everyone of the IKF's commitment to safety and fairness to all who attend their events. He brought attention to other events taking place in the area but reminded them that if the event is not listed on the IKF events web page, IKF/PKB events web page or AKP web pages, that the IKF Is not a part of the event!

He reminded them of the quote recently given to him by a friend in the sport..."fill up the pool and everyone floats"...in relationship to continuing to grow the sport of Muay Thai / Kickboxing. He hopes this is the case as others do their events but cautions lack of understanding of this type of competition and especially keeping them safe for all competitors... could have a counter-affect...in that "everyone sinks."

For information about Mr. Yong's future events e-mail him at aiyarath@sbcglobal.net

Mr. Jordan and Felipe Pallen...
Land Huge Results for IKF Point Kickboxing©!

Jordan (Right) and Felipa Pallen are serious about growing the martial arts. This past weekend they again demonstrated why they are noted by most as the leaders in offering the best martial arts events in the area. With a combination of Karate, Kata's, Grappling, Phillipino Martial Arts and the always exciting IKF Point Kickboxing divisions, there tournament stands out from the rest. Fighters, trainers and thousands of fans piled in the Hyatt Hotel's Event Center in Santa Clara, CA to witness the event and were delighted at what they saw in this tremendous three day event.

The IKF Point division doubled in size from last year's event with approx. sixty competitors. Thanks to additional marketing efforts by the Pallen's, new Kickboxing clubs that are rarely seen at these events showed up to witness what all the buzz was about with IKF Point Kickboxing and now know why.

By most accounts they and their students loved it and just as last year, are promising to bring even more competitors in the coming years. On one account, an instructor said that his gym is loaded with youth Muay Thai fighters but he was reluctant to enter. However, after seeing the the "NO Knockout Rule" as real and other precautionary measures to keep the fighters safe as well as all of the excitement, he regretted not entering but said..."next time for sure! " Special Thanks to the Officials in helping with the event. Mr Dennis Guila, David Rosales, Rich Davis and Matt Miller.

IKF Point Kickboxing Division Welcomes
Mr. David Rosales...
New IKF/PKB Official

IKF Point Kickboxing President Johnny Davis and his staff welcome Mr. David Rosales of Concord, CA as a new IKF Point Kickboxing© Certified Official. Mr. Rosales will be assisting with Judging competition at many IKF Point Kickboxing in California.

Mr. Rosales has officiated at several IKF Point Kickboxing© tournaments and has shown to be fair and proficient in his decisions. David was born in San Francisco, CA. He started training in martial arts when he was 15 years old with Instructor Frank Scalercio in Santa Rosa, CA. His studio was called Institute of Better Health (IBH) where he trained in kickboxing for approximately 1 year. His training was interrupted because his family moved back to San Francisco, CA.

Mr. Rosales was absent from the arts until approximately the age of 18 when he resumed training at Koo Sol. He trained there for approximately one year where he earned a green belt however, again he had to relocate to Antioch, CA. While living in Antioch, he trained from the age of 22-25 in Uechi Ryu with Mr. Allan Dollar where he earned a 2nd degree brown belt.

After moving to Concord, CA, he joined Master Yu's Martial Arts. He trained for 7-10 years until mid 30's where he earned a first degree black belt in the style of Tae Kwon Do. His job, both fortunately and unfortunately, took him to Hawaii for 6 years.

David Rosales is currently training with Master Oliver in Concord, CA at KO Tae Kwon Do. When asked about his goal, he states "My goal at this stage in my life is to further and complete my training. Furthermore, I would like to open a place where I can incorporate my spiritual background with my knowledge of the arts and help people reach and maintain a healthy spiritual, mental and physical balance."

For more information on Mr. Rosales, he can be reached at davidarosales@hotmail.com
