Point Kickboxing...
December 2007: IKF Point Kickboxing President Johnny Davis of California announces yet another group of prominent promoters who are joining the IKF Point Kickboxing craze. The semi contact tournament division has been around for as little as five years but is now getting high honors as a great new sport to be included in the booming martial arts tournament scene. The International Kickboxing Federation ( IKF) is proud to welcome former IKF World Kickboxing Champion Dave "Mad Man" Marinoble of Roseville, California (916-786-0333) to the IKF/PKB 2008 West Coast Circuit. Mr. Marinoble also runs a successful gym in Roseville, CA and teaches many forms of martial including karate, kickboxing, boxing, grappling and a host of weapons and self defense classes, has agreed to host an IKF/PKB tournament in the month of March as part of the exciting packed year of other Point Kickboxing events. Another local promoter who joined the IKF/PKB Circuit was well know California Martial Artist Mr. Jay Perry of Grass Valley, CA. (530-273-8121) Mr. Perry runs a successful martial arts school in his home town. He is frequently seen at many martial arts tournaments where his fighters are always some of the most talented in attendance. Mr. Perry has committed to host at least one IKF/PKB event in June and perhaps another in the month of October 2008. The IKF Point Kickboxing West Coast Circuit is sure to be a huge hit in 2008! The semi contact competition is attracting men, women, juniors and seniors (over 40) from around the world to participate in exciting kickboxing action where knockouts are not allowed. True fans of Kickboxing will be treated to many rounds of action and excitement at each of the slated events for 2008. Every month is set to have an event with the exception of the month of December. At the end of 2008 and, or the beginning of 2009, the IKF/PKB will host an exciting banquet style event where they will recognize and award the fighters that accumulated the most points. Fighters that perhaps had some of the most exciting bouts and, or techniques will also be recognized. Awards like the Courage Awards etc. may also be given. No doubt that IKF Point Kickboxing will hit the ground running in 2008 with the first event being on January 26th, 2008 in Sacramento, California. Immediately following that will be another event in Antioch, California on February 23rd. Everyone is encourage to get in the best shape of their lives as many of the events will have the two -two minute rounds and one round tie breakers in affect which will certainly challenge ones conditioning to the max. Finally, as long as everyone remembers the semi- contact concept of IKF Point Kickboxing as well as the potential for this type of competition to rebuild the sport of kickboxing...we are on the verge of the resurrection of one of the most exciting contact sports on the planet! |

November, 2007: IKF Point Kickboxing President Johnny Davis (Right) and West Coast IKF/PKB Representative Ms. Rubie Navarro (Left) announced the start up of the West Coast IKF Point Kickboxing Circuit. This is exciting news for so many who will now get a chance to demonstrate their skills in semi contact action and win some nice prizes throughout the year. The IKF/PKB Circuit will consist of points accumulated for a year as competitors enter tournaments that are listed below. See more on the circuit points here. Competitors with the most accumulated points will be the annual champion for that specific division. The year will kickoff with an exciting Point Kickboxing event on January 26th, 2007 hosted by IKF/PKB President Johnny Davis and West Coast Representative Ms Rubie Navarro in Sacramento, CA at the beautiful Doubletree Hotel located at 2001 Point West Way in Sacramento, CA 95815. Everyone will receive great awards and enjoy all the amenities of an excellent facility. Davis and Navarro are planning another event in November of 2008. Also Joining the PKB Circuit is IKF/PKB Promoter Mr. Dennis Guila (Left) of Antioch, CA. Mr. Guila is set to host his Paradise of IKF Point Kickboxing on February 23rd in the City of Antioch, CA. With a second one planned for September 20th, 2007, Mr. Guila is pleased that his events have grown and he plans to continue to make them some of the most exciting tournaments on the circuit. Mr. Guila promoted two very successful events last year and he and his team really have the hang of what its all about. His supportive school not only gives great support to the semi contact competitions but they have garnered several 2007 IKF World Classic Champions in full contact fighting as well. His fighters showcased their skills in impressive fashion compounded with excellent technique as well as passion for the sport. Mega Karate Tournament Promoter Mr. Ray Delgado is hoping to raise the bar for IKF Point Kickboxing as he has agreed to host IKF/PKB divisions in to his already successful martial arts tournament that has over 400 competitors competing in Kumite, Forms and Weapons. With IKF Point Kickboxing divisions added to the May 24, 2007 tournament that will be held in Santa Clara, CA, Mr. Delgado is sure to continue to bring even more excitement to IKF Point Kickboxing and the many fighters and fans that follow these events. The Summer will Bring It On for the 10th Annual, 2008 - IKF World Classic Amateur Kickboxing Championships on July 18th, 19th, and 20th. The yearly World Championship event will host the 2nd annual IKF/PKB World Classic as well on Saturday, July 19th, 2007. This prestigious event will be a double point event where competitors going for the year-end award could really stack up on points to take it all. The tournament will be held at the World's Largest Marriott, The Orlando World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Florida. That same weekend, Kickboxing fighters will travel from around the world to see if they can win the Golden Gloves of Kickboxing event in full contact action! Between December 2007 and January 2008, the IKF Point Kickboxing Division will host a banquet style dinner/party were all tournament competitors will be invited to attend and enjoy the food, drink and be a part of the award ceremony. As you can see, IKF Point Kickboxing is set and ready to start the year with a Bang! Moreover, we have added a Senior Division for those over 40 years old as well as have added weight divisions to make the competition more fair. New weight divisions have also been added for juniors. For info on this Click Here Some have asked if they do not live on the West Coast, can they participate in the circuit and the answer is "YES!". As long as they understand that in order to get the year end title, they will need to make it to all of these listed events and, or earn enough points to win. We plan to continue to expand the circuit in other areas as well once we amass more promoters and, or events in a certain area to justify a circuit. So, get ready to take your first step out of the gym and participate in the next IKF Point Kickboxing event near you! More events may be posted on some of the open months. Dates and locations below are subjected to change. |

IKF/PKB News Staff: Antioch, CA- October 28, 2007: This past Saturday, October 27th, 2007 IKF/PKB Promoter Dennis Guila (right) of Antioch, CA hosted yet another successful IKF Point Kickboxing Tournament. An enthusiastic group of men, women and children came from across Northern California to participate in this growing semi contact action-packed event! Guila stated that "I'm pleased with the event and plan to continue to contribute to the growth of such an exciting sport and division!" Guila and his team set up an impressive padded floor ring where all of the fights took place. The action was hot as the packed house of spectators screamed to the top of their lungs for their favorite fighter...erupting often into an ocean of hands waving and chanting! In the audience was IKF CEO Mr. Steve Fossum (Left) who came to support the event and speak to the fighters "This is where it starts and you need to understand that its not about winning or losing its about showing up and walking the walk" he stated strongly. Mr. Fossum who is responsible for building the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) that encompasses world wide Kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts (ISCF) and semi contact kickboxing events. "He has poured many years of hard work to grow the IKF and the benefits have been proven over the years as many IKF champions would later win and, or participate in prominent events like K1, the IFL and UFC" said promoter Guila about Fossum. "This was certainly another exciting event and everyone seemed to have a good time" stated IKF/PKB West Coast Representative Ms. Rubie Navarro (Left) who also had a group of impressive fighters on hand that gave notable showings in all of their bouts. IKF/PKB President Johnny Davis (Right) expressed to everyone the importance of following the rules as well as emphasizing the importance of knockouts not being allowed in this type of semi- contact competition. "Fighters and fans sometimes become anxious to see more contact and its up to the officials to make sure that contact is controlled no matter what. This must be a priority for the IKF/PKB Division as well as trainers to properly coach their fighters for this type of competition said Davis. He continued, "This is a great competition and we look forward to starting our IKF Point Kickboxing Circuit in January 2008. We are currently looking at about one IKF Point Kickboxing event a month in 2008 somewhere in Northern, California as it stands today. This point system will give fighters the opportunity to compete and win a certain amount of points based on their performance and in the end of the year, the participants with the most points will receive awards and championship titles. Moreover, we have executed our new website www.IKFPKB.com to keep everyone up to date on IKF/PKB News, Circuit standings and more. I'm extremely excited about what IKF Point Kickboxing tournaments can do for the entire sport of kickboxing...the future is bright but only with the support of all of the fighters, trainers and fans that come out and make these events successful!" Mrs. Guila who is the other/better half :) of the Guila Team said it eloquently, "What the IKF has developed with the Point Kickboxing is becoming a trend. I mostly only heard positive comments about the event and the future of the IKF/PKB. Many of the old school martial artist are starting to recognize this event and want to get involved...its such a good thing!" We at the IKF/PKB would like to thank Mr. Dennis Guila and his team as well as all of the trainers who stepped up to assist with the judging and referring . More on the IKF/PKB 2008 Circuit coming soon as well as the results from this past weekend's excellent event. |
